The North Carolina Tar Heels have struggled to land a big man in the transfer portal, with the latest news of Jonas Aidoo transferring to Arkansas from the University of Tennessee.

Aidoo was on the Tar Heels’ radar this offseason, along with Aaron Bradshaw and Oumar Ballo. However, Bradshaw decided to head to Ohio State, while Ballo took his talents from Arizona to Indiana.

Nonetheless, all is not lost for the Tar Heels as they are still running for Kentucky forward Adou Thiero and one of the best big men left in the transfer portal.

Tar Heels News: Clifford Omoruyi Schedules Final Visit with North Carolina

Joe Tipton of On3 Sports reported on Tuesday that Rutgers transfer Clifford Omoruyi will begin a visit to UNC on Thursday. Tipton adds that the Rutgers transfer has also visited with Alabama, Georgetown, and Kansas State.

The former four-star recruit would be a welcome addition to North Carolina’s frontcourt as they won’t have Armando Bacot to lean on, who has exhausted his college eligibility.

Omoruyi averaged 10.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game this past season with the Scarlet Knights. The 6-foot-11 big man also had a DRtg (defensive rating) of 90.1, which helped Omoruyi make the Big Ten All-Defense team for the second straight season.

The Tar Heels haven’t made a ton of news in the transfer portal this offseason, but they received great news about RJ Davis and Seth Trimble, who will be back for next season. With Davis back in the fold, plus the incoming freshman class, and getting a quality big in the transfer portal, the Tar Heels will be a threat to win the ACC next season.
