Panthers Reportedly Scheduled to Play NFC Bottom-Feeder in Germany
By Jovan Alford
Heading into the offseason, Carolina Panthers fans were already looking at the 2024 schedule as they hoped for a better day after a 2-15 finish in 2023.
The Panthers were among the four teams chosen to play an international game in January. After a tumultuous 2023 season, it seemed odd to have Carolina being picked to play in Germany in 2024, especially since the Panthers would be losing a home game.
At the time of the announcement, we didn’t know who the Panthers would be playing in Munich, Germany. However, with the 2024 NFL schedule release set to be televised on Wednesday – a new report details the Panthers’ potential opponent.
Panthers Rumors: Carolina to Play New York Giants in Munich
Ruben F. Vargas, who is a part of the New York Giants’ Spanish radio team, reported Tuesday that the Giants will play the Panthers in Munich.
The Giants have played in three international games dating back to their first in 2007, going 3-0 in those contests. This will be Carolina’s second game overseas. The last time the Panthers played an international game was in London in the 2019 season, where they defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 37-6.
The NFC South is not unfamiliar with playing in Munich as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played the Seattle Seahawks in 2022.
Giants-Panthers will likely not be as exciting as Bucs-Seahawks, but maybe Carolina will have a better season in 2024 under first-year head coach Dave Canales. On paper, it’s not a fantastic game, but the Panthers learn from their mistakes last season, they could pull the upset over the Giants.
