The Panthers announced a move to their 90-man roster on Tuesday, officially signing All-UFL WR Daewood Davis after a successful workout at the team's mandatory minicamp last week.

Davis led the Memphis Showboats in receiving this year, catching 41 passes for 446 yards and five TDs. This was an expected move but now Davis will participate in training camp hoping to break the 53-man roster ahead of the season.

At 6'2", 195 LBs, Davis has solid size and speed, potentially giving Carolina's wideout group some extra juice.

Adam Thielen, Diontae Johnson, and Xavier Legette figure to lead the group, though there are plenty of question marks on the depth chart after that.

2022 second-round pick Jonathan Mingo likely slots in as the fourth receiver. Terrace Marshall Jr. has been underwhelming, and no players outside of him have guaranteed themselves a spot on the roster. If Davis impresses, he could rise as high as fifth at the position.

Originally an undrafted free agent signed by the Dolphins out of Western Kentucky, Davis was waived following a head injury he suffered in the preseason. He's got quick feet and a keen understanding of the route tree, giving him an opportunity to earn QB Bryce Young's trust.

For a rebuilding organization trying to improve on a miserable 2-15 season with a new head coach, Davis represents a smart dart-throw. He was one of the UFL's best players and now gets to carry that momentum into Panthers' training camp.

Whether or not Davis ultimately makes the roster, he's someone I'll be watching closely next month.
