The Panthers continued a strong first couple of days in the NFL Draft, pulling off their second trade within the first 40 picks by adding a 2025 second-round pick in trading the selection they picked up from the Bills with Thursday's deal.

Carolina originally selected South Carolina WR Xavier Legette at the end of the first round to bolster the wide receiver group around Bryce Young. They'll soon pick in the second round but this represents a massive win for GM Dan Morgan while the team is rebuilding.

For an organization that needs improvements across the roster, picking up extra draft selections while still locking in great talent represents a massive win.

The Rams ultimately selected Florida State DT Braden Fiske. We don't yet know who the Panthers will draft at pick No. 52, though defensive tackle doesn't ultimately rate as a large need for the organization.

Legette joins newly-acquired Diontae Johnson and previously-established Adam Thielen in Carolina's wide receiver room, giving Young a dynamic group that should represent a significant improvement from one of the least competitive positions league-wide in 2023.

As the Panthers try to get back to competitiveness in the NFC South, these are the kinds of trades that should make fans thrilled.

New head coach Dave Canales has an established track record of success after helping Tampa Bay QB Baker Mayfield reach new heights. Hopefully, he can use these strong moves to find a similar improvement for Young.
