North Carolina Legal Sports Betting Start Date Revealed
Ever since North Carolina passed a sports wagering bill in June 2023, people have been wondering when they will be legally allowed to wager using mobile betting devices.
Well, that answer was finally revealed today and it's just in time for March Madness!
When is Mobile Sports Betting Legal in North Carolina?
Today, the North Carolina State Lottery Commission set the "go live" date for legalized mobile sports betting to begin at noon on March 11, 2024.
Residents of North Carolina can begin signing up for mobile sports betting sites on March 1 this year and licensed operators in the state can enroll new players and accept deposits starting then. However, you won't be able to place bets on games until noon on March 11.
Legal Sportsbooks in North Carolina
As of now, the following operators are expected to be granted licenses to operate in North Carolina:
- Bet365,
- BetMGM
- Caesars Sportsbook
- DraftKings
- ESPN BET
- Fanatics Sportsbook
- FanDuel
- Underdog Sports
Sportsbooks need to be partners with an in-state organization to receive consideration for a license and those eight operators have fulfilled that need.
North Carolina Mobile Sports Betting
Initially, the commission said mobile sports betting would not be ready by Jan. 8. However, that date was pushed back at the end of last year and this was the first time we got a definitive answer since. Luckily for basketball fans in the state, you will be able to wager on March Madness.
The NCAA men's basketball tournament starts on March 19. This will give bettors over a week to get their accounts set up to bet on the big dance. There will be plenty of great offers from the sportsbooks, so make sure to take advantage of them to jumpstart your career.
