The Wolfpack continued their work in the transfer portal over the weekend, securing former Georgetown and North Carolina guard Dontrez Styles to bolster the backcourt.

NC State's roster is taking shape, bringing in Louisville guard Mike James as well as the program looks to build on its incredible Final Four appearance that ended in a loss to Purdue. Styles spent two years with the Tar Heels before starting all 32 games for the Hoyas last year but now returns to his home state to play for head coach Kevin Keatts.

He averaged 12.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting 43% from the field and 36.8% from beyond the arc this season, giving the Wolfpack a pair of double-digit scoring guards between their two transfers.

A former four-star recruit, Styles struggled to find playing time at North Carolina but flourished as a starter for Georgetown. He reached double figures in 22 games, highlighted by a 26-point effort against Mount St. Mary's.

After DJ Horne declared for the NBA Draft, NC State needed to find scoring options in the backcourt to avoid a dropoff in the 2024-25 season. Between James and Styles, Keatts has a pair of impressive scorers who can carry the load against stiff ACC competition.

Styles earned first-team All-State honors in his senior year at Kinston High School in North Carolina. At 6'6", 212 LBs, he's got great size for the position and has proven to be a capable defender.

The Wolfpack enter a new era for the program with Horne gone, and Keatts should continue to be active in the transfer portal. That being said, Styles is a strong start and NC State should once again be competitive with a chance to make the NCAA Tournament.
