The Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been known to distort the truth now and then. All harmless lies, of course, but LeBron likes to change the facts of the past to fit his narrative in the present.

In the latest episode of his podcast Mind the Game with Duke legend JJ Redick, James recalled his days of playing basketball as a kid. Recounting his high school days, James said that he wanted to go to Cincinnati and North Carolina.

"When I was growing up, I wanted to go to Cincinnati because of the uniforms and because of Huggs. And then I got a little older and I wanted to go to North Carolina because of the uniforms and because of Ed Cota and his ability to pass the ball, I was like, 'Oh, that's insane.'"

His fellow co-host Redick naturally asked James whether he wanted to go to Duke, to which LeBron had an NSFW response.

"F--k no, man. F--k no, I never wanted to go to Duke. I already told you this."

LeBron James about going to Duke

This comes as a surprise because only two years ago, LeBron was singing a different tune. Not only did he call himself an "honorary Dukie" because of his love for Coach K previously, but LeBron also answered a similar question very differently.

On an ESPN broadcast of the 2022 NCAA Women's Tournament, UConn icon Diana Taurasi asked LeBron what college he would have gone to. James said it would have been between Duke and North Carolina.

Interesting answer by a man who allegedly "never wanted to go to Duke."

Needless to say, LeBron James would have been one of the greatest college players of all-time. He would have been a one-and-done but that one would have been incredible. It's also clear that the four-time MVP didn't really need that collegiate year.

He may be one of the two greatest basketball players ever, but honesty is certainly not his strong suit.
