JJ Redick Adds Fellow Former Duke Star To His Coaching Staff

The Los Angeles Lakers shocked the NBA world earlier in the offseason when they hired JJ Redick as their new head coach. A first-time head coach with no prior experience, Redick was seen as a risky gamble for a team desperate for contention in the final stretch of LeBron James' career.
The former Duke star, however, is assembling a star-studded coaching staff to help him with his transition to the sidelines. After hiring Nate McMillan and Scott Brooks as his top assistants, Redick just added fellow Blue Devils star Lindsey Harding to his staff, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Harding was a head coach in the G League last season, having won Coach of the Year with the Stockton Kings. She has worked with the Philadelphia 76ers when Redick was a player there, as well as being an assistant coach in Sacramento.
The 40-year-old coach had an illustrious career as a basketball player. Between 2002 and 2007, she played in 140 games for Duke, winning ACC Player of the Year and becoming a first-team All-American in her senior year. She won back-to-back ACC Defensive Player of the Year awards and became the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 WNBA Draft.
Harding has been touted as a head coaching candidate in the NBA, having interviewed for the Charlotte Hornets' head coaching vacancy earlier in the offseason. After spending time in Durham and Philadelphia together, Redick and Harding are back together in Los Angeles, hoping to bring another championship to the Lakers organization.
