It Took One Drive for Andy Dalton to Make Panthers Fans Forget Bryce Young
By Joe Summers
If anyone thought Bryce Young still had a chance to lead the Carolina Panthers this season, Andy Dalton quickly eliminated that possibility.
In only one drive, Dalton led the offense to a smooth TD and made fans forget that the organization even drafted a failed QB at No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Young clearly doesn't have a place on this team any longer, and Dalton looks ready to lead the offense moving forward.
Carolina has been crisp, smooth and efficient, qualities that the team didn't show once with Young under center.
Andy Dalton Instantly Makes Panthers Fans Forget About Bryce Young
Much has been said about Young's struggles. He threw three interceptions and no TDs in his first two starts of the season, yet Dalton already has three scoring passes in his first half as Carolina's starter.
Dalton calmly led the team on a nine-play, 70-yard drive to start the game. He's thrown TD passes to both Diontae Johnson and Adam Thielen, significant developments given how frustrated the pair were with Young's play.
It took no time at all for Dalton to prove he's a siginficantly better player than Young. The latter still could have a bright future in this league, but his lack of confidence shined instead of his underlying athletic ability. The Panthers are in a great shape all of a sudden, and Dave Canales should be commended for his decision to bench the once-promising Young.
We'll see what happens moving forward, but it's obvious that Dalton needs to start for the rest of the year unless he gets hurt.
