Former Wake Forest Star Gets Recognized for Outstanding Season
By Jovan Alford
Former Wake Forest Demon Deacons star guard Alondes Williams has had an excellent 2023-24 season in the NBA G League.
Williams, who spent one season at Wake Forest, took his game to another level this season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce (Miami Heat G League affiliate).
The 24-year-old guard scored 21.7 points per game on 52.2 percent shooting from the field and 37.7 percent from beyond the arc. Williams also posted 5.4 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game.
For his efforts and improved play from his first season in the G League with the Long Island Nets (Brooklyn’s G League Affiliate), the league named Williams their Most Improved Player for the 2023-24 season.
The former Demon Deacons’ standout only averaged 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game last season with the Nets. However, the growth and improvement from Williams in his first two years of professional ball caught the attention of the Heat, who inked him to a two-way contract in February.
Williams also got the chance to participate in NBA All-Star Weekend, which was another nod to how well he played in the first half of the G League season. The former Wake star guard will look to keep the Skyforce’s season going as they play the Oklahoma City Blue in the Western Conference Semifinals.
