Former UNC Tar Heels star Harrison Ingram has successfully landed a two-way NBA contract with the San Antonio Spurs after a strong showing at Summer League.

Originally drafted at No. 48 in the second round, Ingram had to prove himself to earn a roster spot and clearly succeeded. He averaged 10 points and 6.3 rebounds in four games while shooting 42.9% from beyond the arc, showcasing the skills that helped him flourish in his lone season as a Tar Heel.

Ingram will join one of the most promising rebuilding efforts in the league, hoping to establish himself as a foundational piece alongside Victor Wembanyama.

UNC Tar Heels News: Harrison Ingram Lands Two-Way Contract With Spurs

A two-way contract means that Ingram can be active for up to 50 games with the NBA team but will split time with San Antonio's G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs. Two-way contracts are typically given to developmental players the organization believes in, and few franchises are more adept at identifying quality prospects than this one.

Ingram projects as a high-quality three-and-D player who rebounds exceptionally well for his position. During his one year at UNC, Ingram averaged 12.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game on 43% shooting from the field and 38.5% from three-point range.

If Ingram's perimeter shooting is closer to the 42.9% mark he showed at NBA Summer League than the 38.5% he shot at UNC, he won't be in the G League long. Every team needs a high-level rebounder who can shoot, especially one that defends as well as Ingram does.

He's got a bright future. The first step is often the hardest and Ingram now has a true home with quality coaches. Tar Heels fans may not see him make a significant impact for another year or two, though Ingram appears well on his way to a long and fruitful career.
