With NFL training camps on the horizon, along with the preseason, it’s a good time to see who will be the new cover athlete for Madden. Each year, football fans patiently wait to see who will grace the cover of Madden.

If you are a fan of the player that gets chosen, you are happy, but nervous as you fear for the dreaded Madden curse. On Tuesday, it was unveiled that former Carolina Panthers and current San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey will be on the Madden 25 cover.

Former Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey Lands Madden 25 Cover

McCaffrey is the first running back to grace the cover of the prestigious video game since 2014 when Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders was on the cover for Madden 25, as it was the 25th anniversary of the game.

The former Panthers running back is coming off a terrific 2023 season with the 49ers, recording a league-leading 1,459 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on 272 carries. He also posted 2,023 scrimmage yards and 21 total touchdowns, which led the NFL and helped McCaffrey capture Offensive Player of the Year.

The former first-round pick had 2,000-plus scrimmage yards and 20 or more total yards in 2019 with the Panthers, but it didn’t garner enough attention for him to win OPOY as he finished third in the voting.

That said, Panthers fans would’ve loved to see McCaffrey on the cover in his Carolina uni, but it looks like he’s on track to have a stellar career with the 49ers.
