DJ Burns Jr. of the North Carolina State Wolfpack is everyone's favorite March Madness story this year. The talented big man took the basketball world by storm as he led his team to their improbable run to win the ACC Tournament and make it to the Final Four.

However, instead of appreciating his impressive skill set, combining his size with his soft scoring and passing touch, some members of the media decided to speculate wildly about Burns' future.

This produced the wildest takes imaginable, the most ridiculous idea being that Burns would make a great offensive lineman in the NFL and should pursue a career there.

Fortunately for everyone's sanity, the NC State star shut down those rumors on Thursday.

"Everybody needs a story to keep it interesting. Maybe there was too much downtime for people to think or something, but I ain't playing no football."

Highlighting the fact that he played football until eighth grade and scored a lot of touchdowns at tight end, Burns said he was always better at basketball. Once he received a scholarship from Winthrop, he "quit immediately".

NC State coach Kevin Keatts was similarly bemused about the NFL talk about his star player.

"No way he's going to play football. He's got great touch, but he's not that bully you guys think. ... He's a teddy bear off the court."

Plus, the guy clearly has a future in basketball, if it's not the NBA, then overseas. He would have to be crazy to leave that for a shot at a shorter and less lucrative career in football.

However, none of that matters right now. Burns and the Wolfpack are focused on the task ahead of them: Zach Edey and Purdue. They have a mountain to climb but have done crazier things during this Cinderella run.
