Becky Hammon

This would be the most outside-the-box coaching hire the Charlotte Hornets could make and perhaps it's what this franchise needs.

The Hornets had a few challenging seasons in terms of PR and marketability. When they have been in the media, it has largely been for negative reasons. A new era for the franchise could start with a positive note with the hiring of Becky Hammon.

Hammon wasn't only one of the most accomplished WNBA guards of her generation, but she has quickly established herself as one of the best head coaches in the game right now. After serving as Gregg Popovich's assistant in San Antonio for eight seasons, he became the head coach for the Las Vegas Aces ahead of the 2022 season.

Her team went on to win back-to-back WNBA championships. In 2023, the Aces went 34-6 in the regular season and only lost one game in the playoffs to repeat as champions to conclude one of the most dominant single-season performances ever.

Hiring coaches from Popovich coaching tree has usually worked well for teams and Hammon deserves that chance as much as any other coach.
