The Los Angeles Lakers are about to announce the hiring of JJ Redick as their next head coach. It will be the first coaching experience of the former Duke star.

How successful the 39-year-old will be in Los Angeles remains to be seen but in order for him to make the Lakers a title contender again, they need to bolster their roster. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are still playing at a high level but the Lakers need to find quality players around them to challenge for the top of the Western Conference.

There are a couple of former Blue Devils stars who will be available this offseason. The Lakers could target a few of these names to improve the roster. Let's take a look.

Brandon Ingram

The New Orleans Pelicans star is entering the final season of his contract. Considering how far they are from contending, the Pelicans might be unwilling to give Ingram a contract extension. This means that they will likely consider trading him to get as much value as they can for him.

The Lakers have multiple first-round picks and a few players they can use to match salary in a potential trade. Ingram can take some of the offensive workload from LeBron James as he is a capable scorer and playmaker, having averaged 20.8 points and 5.7 assists per game last season.

Ingram had started his NBA career in Los Angeles after being drafted out of Duke in 2016. His first stint with the Lakers didn't work out the way he had hoped for but a return there under JJ Redick could be beneficial for both sides.
