3. Diontae Johnson

One of the biggest moves Carolina made in the offseason was trading veteran cornerback Donte Jackson to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Diontae Johnson. It was a shrewd move by the Panthers as they moved on from one of their starting cornerbacks, but got a starting wideout to help Young.

The former Steelers receiver has already developed chemistry with the young QB, which should bode well for the Panthers’ offense. Last season, Carolina averaged 13.9 points per game (31st in the majors) and their leading receiver was 33-year-old Adam Thielen (107 catches for 1,017 yards and four touchdowns).

While Thielen’s production was terrific in 2023, the Panthers would rather see Johnson and first-round pick Xavier Legette be the leading receivers in 2024. Johnson, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent after this season, is looking for a new contract with the Panthers or somewhere else.

Therefore, the Panthers should expect a huge bounce-back season from the veteran wide receiver, who had a disappointing final year with the Steelers.
