3 Prospects Hornets Should Target in Second Round of 2024 NBA Draft

These prospects all have the talent and fit to be solid picks for Charlotte at No. 42 overall

2. Kevin McCullar Jr., Kansas

There’s not as much room for growth with a player like McCullar Jr., who is already 23-years-old, but he is exactly the type of player Charlotte could use. 

He’s not the best 3-point shooter, though. He improved to shoot 33.3% from deep last season. Despite that, he averaged 18.3 points per game for the Jayhawks.

Best of all, he brings high intensity on defense. 

Per NBADraftNet.com, McCullar “was consistently among the best defensive players in college basketball throughout his career, and that will also be his calling card in the NBA.” 

Fit: Brandon Miller is already a strong option for Charlotte at small forward, but Miller can’t play the whole game, and Cody Martin isn’t the best option at shooting guard. McCullar Jr. could be a better option on the wing in the starting lineup, or at the least, a scoring option off the bench who can provide much-needed defense.
