2. Johnell Davis, G, Florida Atlantic

North Carolina's best scorer RJ Davis has an option to return for a fifth season due to COVID rules. He not only had his best season as a Tar Heel last year, but he was also consistently the best player on the team. If he were to leave, he would certainly be difficult to replace.

The best replacement North Carolina can find for him, however, is probably Johnell Davis of the Florida Atlantic University. Davis burst onto the scene with his breakout performance in the 2022-23 campaign when he led FAU to the Final Four, averaging 13.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game for the season.

He continued his rise to stardom with an even better campaign last season. FAU failed to repeat its prior performance as they fell to Northwestern in the first round but Davis impressed with his season averages of 18.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He also had his most efficient campaign despite having a much larger role and offensive burden. He made 48.3% of his shots from the field and 41.4% from three.

Unlike most of his score-first, dynamic guard brethren, Johnell Davis also has excellent size for his position. He is 6'4, physical, and strong, making him a potential two-way option. He only has one more year of eligibility left but he would be an excellent one-and-done option for North Carolina.
