3 Panthers on the Chopping Block Next After Bradley Bozeman Release

Bradley Bozeman won't likely be the last Panther to be cut before free agency officially opens.

With free agency not technically opening until Wednesday (even though negotiation begins on Monday), teams have few more days to finish freeing up salary cap space before the spending spree begins.

The Carolina Panthers made a big move releasing Bradley Bozeman on the weekend, but that may not be the final step to preparing for free agency.

These Panthers players could be losing their jobs next.

1. Austin Corbett

2024 Cap Hit: $10,133,000
2024 Dead Money: $3,883,000 (post 6/1)
2024 Cap Savings: $6,250,000

Austin Corbett is probably the biggest no-brainer on the list. You don't need to actually wait until June 1st to designate someone a post 6/1 cut, so the Panthers can free up about $6.3 million by cutting ties with Corbett.

It doesn't feel good to get ready to move on from an injured player, but considering the way Corbett played between his return from his torn ACL and before suffering his new season-ending injury, how can you not?

Pro Football Focus (PFF) gave him an overall grade of just 47.9 last season, which made him one of the worst starting guards in football. If he struggled to return from one serious knee injury, what hope is there that things look any better in 2024?

For $10 million you can get a new starter who is almost surely going to be an upgrade over what Corbett offers right now plus a capable backup to boot.
