3 Former Panthers Who Still Can't Find a Job in 2024 Free Agency

The Carolina Panthers addressed both sides of the ball in free agency this offseason. However, there are still a few players still searching for a new team this coming season.

2. Stephon Gilmore

The Panthers reportedly reached out to Gilmore, who played for the team in 2021, where he was named to the Pro Bowl. The 33-year-old cornerback hasn’t lost a step after coming off a good 2023 season with the Dallas Cowboys.

There was a belief that the Cowboys could re-sign Gilmore, but that hasn’t happened yet, which could lead the veteran cornerback back to Carolina or somewhere else.

Last season with the Cowboys, Gilmore held it down on the boundary as opposing quarterbacks took their chances throwing to DaRon Bland’s side of the field, which didn’t work out.

Meanwhile, Gilmore had 68 combined tackles, 13 pass deflections, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. He was also stellar in pass coverage, posting a 55.8 completion percentage, an 82.7 pass rating allowed when targeted, and gave up four receiving touchdowns.

There are still a few quality cornerbacks on the free agent market, which might slow things down for an older cornerback such as Gilmore. However, with how he played last season in Dallas, it’s clear he still has something left in the tank.
