Every basketball fan knows who Michael Jordan is.

The most famous basketball player of all-time first became a star at UNC and it didn’t take him long to shine.

He became the ACC Freshman of the Year as he scored 13.5 points per game on 53.4% shooting from the field. Even though he was just a freshman, he played a pivotal role in UNC’s 1982 National Championship – scoring 16 points with nine rebounds, including hitting the game-winning shot in a 63-62 win over Georgetown.

Of course, Jordan only got better from there. He’d go on to become a conference player of the year, a back-to-back Consensus All-American and a back-to-back National Player of the Year.

His best season resulted in 20 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 1.6 assists per game, 2.2 steals per game and 53.5% shooting from the field.
