8. Danny Ferry

Still Duke's record holder for the all-time single-game scoring with 58, Danny Ferry was one of the first Blue Devils to become a national sensation. He carried Duke to three Final Fours in four seasons, in 1986, 1988, and 1989, winning the Naismith College Player of the Year award in his senior year.

Ferry was a dominant scorer known for his outside shooting. He finished his Duke career with 15.1 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while hitting 48.4% of his field goal attempts and 38.8% of his threes. At 6'10 with a beautiful shooting touch and an all-around game, Ferry was a prototypical modern forward. His jersey number No. 35 has been retired by the school.

7. Bobby Hurley

Duke won its first national championship in 1991 in Coach K's 11th season as a head coach. Leading the team as the point guard and floor general on that team was no other than Duke legend Bobby Hurley. As a sophomore, Hurley played every game that season, averaging 11.3 points and 7.4 assists per game while dominating from outside, hitting over 40% from three.

Hurley only got better with time. As Duke won the back-to-back title next year, Hurley was still dominant, increasing his averages to 13.2 points and 7.6 assists while leading a star-studded team with Christian Laettner and Grant Hill. When he finished his four years at Duke, Hurley made history as the all-time NCAA assists leader with 1076. His jersey number No. 11 was retired by the Blue Devils in 1993.
