The Carolina Panthers saw improvement in the first season under Dave Canales. The next step is about adding more talent to the roster, and the first opportunity to do so is in free agency.

The legal tampering period starts on March 10 at noon EST, and teams can begin negotiating with free agents then. According to Spotrac, the Panthers have $28 million in cap space, and they will be interested in a free agent who played for the Philadelphia Eagles.

In an article written by Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano, they discussed the rumors they've been hearing leading into free agency.

Graziano revealed that the Panthers will look to snag defensive tackle Milton Williams from the Philadelphia Eagles.

He wrote, "(Panthers) might be one of the teams willing to spend big to lure defensive tackle Milton Williams away from the Super Bowl champion Eagles. The Panthers will also look to add edge rush help, with Chase Young being one of the intriguing options there."

Panthers Rumors: Milton Williams is a Target for the Panthers

The Panthers need more juice along the defensive line, so the interest in adding Williams isn't shocking. They were 30th in the NFL in team sacks (32) and last in run defense (179.8) in 2024.

Williams was a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Eagles and developed into a quality force. He's coming off the best season of his career, logging 24 total tackles, 10 QB hits, seven TFLs, and a career-high five sacks. During the 2024 postseason run, Williams finished with seven total tackles, two TFLs, two sacks, and a forced fumble.

The Louisiana Tech product has a projected market value listed at $12 million per Spotrac. That number will certainly vary when free agency opens up, but the Panthers are expected to be serious suitors.

The Panthers need more production along the defensive front, and Williams would be a great player to add there. Derrick Brown is the only difference-maker upfront, but he missed the entire season after suffering a meniscus injury in Week 1.

That's why Williams makes a ton of sense, and they are expected to be real suitors for him in free agency.
