The Carolina Panthers have played better football since Bryce Young was reinserted into the starting lineup. Still, the Panthers' roster lacks talent in many positions, which is why they have struggled to win games.

Despite the Panthers' lack of talent, a few players have had good 2024 seasons. Cornerback Jaycee Horn is among those players. As a result, Horn was selected to his first Pro Bowl on Thursday morning.

Head coach Dave Canales, defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, and defensive passing game coordinator Jonathan Cooley called him in to break the news. However, by the time Horn reached them, his agent had already beaten them to the punch.

Panthers news: Jaycee Horn has been selected to the 2025 Pro Bowl

While the exchange between Horn and the coaches is a bit funny, the fact the news got broken to him before is also a bit sad. I'm sure the coaches would prefer to be the first to break this sort of news, given they are with Horn every day. Nevertheless, the fact that Horn earned this distinction is an accomplishment.

This season has been Horn's best to date. In 2024, Horn allowed just a 53.2% completion percentage when targeted while compiling 68 tackles, two sacks, and one interception. Horn's completion percentage against is among the best in the NFL for a cornerback who has played all 16 games so far this season.

That's quite an accomplishment for a player on a 4-12 team, especially when that team has one of the league's worst defenses. As long as Horn doesn't get fed up with the Panthers organization, he should continue to be a cornerstone on the defense and earn plenty more Pro Bowl appearances.
