The Carolina Panthers will keep their quarterback room together for at least two more seasons following their latest signing on Tuesday.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Carolina has re-signed veteran quarterback Andy Dalton to a two-year, $8 million contract. The contract includes $6 million guaranteed and has a max value of $10M.

This latest contract is similar to the one Dalton signed with the Panthers back in March 2023, which was a two-year, $10 million deal.

The 37-year-old Dalton wrapped up his second year with the Panthers in 2024. In his first season with the Panthers, the veteran quarterback completed 58.6 percent of his passes for 361 yards and two touchdowns (three games).

Dalton started the 2024 season as the backup quarterback behind Bryce Young but was named the starter in Week 3 after Carolina’s 0-2 start.

The veteran quarterback played well in Week 3, leading the Panthers to a shocking 36-22 road win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Dalton completed 70.3 percent of his passes for 319 yards, 3 touchdowns, and an interception.

After that win over Las Vegas, things went downhill for Dalton and Carolina as they lost his next four starts. The Panthers were outscored by an average of 21.7 points per game. Meanwhile, he had four touchdowns and six interceptions in those contests.

Young took back over as Carolina’s starting quarterback in Week 8 as Dalton was dealing with a thumb injury suffered in a traffic accident.

Dalton never saw any more action the rest of the way but has become a reliable backup and a good vet to lean on for Young. At this stage of his career, it seems like he's content being in the Queen City and helping the young quarterback.

Carolina hopes Dalton will instill more wisdom into Young as he heads into the 2025 season.
