Adam Thielen's on-field impact in the Carolina Panthers' offense has been obvious. The two games the team has played since he returned from injury were also two of Bryce Young's best of the season, and Thielen leads the offense with an average of 10.2 yards per target.

But his impact in Carolina goes beyond what he does on the field. Despite the Minnesota native and former Viking being new to Carolina, he has still made himself heavily involved in the community with off-field work. And now he's being recognized for it.

Panthers News: Adam Thielen Named Walter Payton Man of the Year Nominee for 2024

The Carolina Panthers announced on Thursday that Thielen is the team's 2024 nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. The award, given out every year since 1970, honors players who make the largest impact both on and off the field.

Thielen's on-field contributions need little introduction, but fans may not be as familiar with what he does off the field. Thielen and his wife Caitlin founded The Thielen Foundation, who states their missions as "With an overarching theme on youth development, the Thielen Foundation aims to create programs that will equip and empower kids to reach their full potential in life."

Thielen also sponsors several programs, according to Panthers.com, including "ChangeThruSport, the Masonic Children's Hospital, Salvation Army Christmas, football camps, scholarships and more."

Thielen also spoke to Panthers.com about the nomination, saying "As my kids get a little older and understand what's going on understand what's going on and why we're receiving an award. It's not an award for what I'm doing on the football field ... It's an award of the impact (by) my family, our foundation, all the people that are involved and then the people that supported it here in a new community to us, have supported our foundation, have been really cool."

One Carolina Panthers player has won the award since its inception in 1970 — Thomas Davis Sr. back in 2014.

Thielen has one more year left on his current contract, and with the way he impacts the Carolina offense and community, fans will be hoping he is kept to play out that final year in 2025.
