Panthers Continue Fire Sale with Latest Projected Trade of Star Playmaker
By Cem Yolbulan
Panthers fans will not love hearing this, but the team will likely continue its fire sale ahead of the November 5 trade deadline. Especially after seeing the trade package it took to acquire Diontae Johnson, the fanbase should probably not expect to see massive hauls in some of these deals.
One name that could potentially be an exception is Chuba Hubbard. The talented rusher has been one of the lone bright spots for Carolina this season, putting up 5.0 yards per carry and scoring three touchdowns. He is on pace for his first 1,000+ yard season of his career.
Therefore, the fans would be devastated if GM Dan Morgan moved on from him at the deadline. However, it feels like no one is untouchable on this roster and maybe that is a good thing. It will make things difficult for Bryce Young in the short run but if the Panthers can get a mid-round draft pick for Hubbard, they might consider moving him.
The most obvious suitor here is the Dallas Cowboys. Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports projected a trade in which Hubbard heads to Dallas.
This trade would likely require a fourth-round pick coming to Carolina. It could potentially become a third-rounder if the Panthers send back a sixth-rounder in return.
The Cowboys have been hesitant to make a big move for an RB this season. However, they are 3-4 and desperate to improve. If that desperation results in them overpaying for Hubbard, the Panthers should be on board. If the offers resemble the package they accepted for Diontae Johnson, they would be better off hanging up the phone.
