Panthers Make Big QB Announcement After Bryce Young's Impressive Effort vs. Chiefs
By Jovan Alford
The Carolina Panthers returned to the field on Sunday, fresh off a Week 11 bye, and looking to extend their two-game winning streak against the Kansas City Chiefs.
This would be their biggest test for second-year quarterback Bryce Young and the Panthers after defeating the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints. The Panthers fell short against the defending Super Bowl champions, losing 30-27.
However, Carolina and Young took a huge step forward, proving they are still competing and haven’t given up on this season. The second-year quarterback went toe-to-toe against Patrick Mahomes and held his own.
Young completed 21-of-35 passes for 263 yards and a touchdown. The former Alabama star played with confidence on the field and it showed.
After the game, head coach Dave Canales spoke highly about Young’s performance and said he will start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week.
“I don’t need to make any statements, he’s making statements for himself,” Canales said (h/t Mike Kaye of the Charlotte Observer).
If you are a Panthers fan, you should be encouraged by Young’s play since he returned to the starting lineup in Week 8.
Young has thrown at least one touchdown pass in four consecutive games and hasn’t thrown an interception in two straight contests. There was a lot of discussion happening earlier this season about whether the Panthers made a mistake drafting Young.
Based on his last four starts, Young is proving the doubters wrong and will look to put together another good game against the Buccaneers next week.
