New Injury Update on Talented Playmaker Will Thrill Panthers Fans
By Cem Yolbulan
The Carolina Panthers' season from hell continues as they lost third straight to fall to 1-5 at the bottom of the NFC South. After providing an instant spark in Week 3 for the first win of the season, Bryce Young's benching in favor of Andy Dalton didn't exactly produce the results Panthers fans were hoping for. The team has the worst defense in the league and is a bottom-five offensive unit in terms of points.
Fortunately for the Panthers, they are about to get a massive boost with the return of a key playmaker. Jonathon Brooks, their second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has "checked all of the boxes" to return to practice according to head coach Dave Canales. The team will open the 21-day practice window for the prized rookie soon, making him eligible to make his NFL debut in the coming weeks.
Panthers News: RB Jonathon Brooks Nearing NFL Debut
Brooks was the first running back to be selected in the 2024 NFL Draft after productive three seasons at Texas. He started the campaign on the reserve/non-football injury list while recovering from an ACL tear.
In his absence, Chubba Hubbard has performed admirably. The 25-year-old talented rusher has 485 yards and two touchdowns through six games, averaging an impressive 5.6 yards per carry. Miles Sanders has been the change-of-pace running back behind him who will likely lose his role once Brooks returns.
The Panthers don't need Brooks desperately right now. Their rushing offense is one of the few things working well for the team this season. However, more offensive talent never hurts and Brooks will certainly provide that for the Panthers.
