The Carolina Panthers returned to practice this week, fresh off their Week 11 bye. The last time we saw the Panthers, they walked off the field in Munich, Germany, with a 20-17 overtime win over the New York Giants.

Carolina has won two straight games and will try to extend its winning streak to three this week against the back-to-back Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs will be a tough challenge for the Panthers, given Kansas City suffered its first loss in Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills.

With that in mind, the Panthers hope to have a relatively healthy team for gameday, but there are concerns about one defender, who just returned from injury.

Panthers News: D.J. Wonnum Limited at Thursday’s Practice

According to Joe Person of The Athletic, veteran pass rusher D.J. Wonnum was among the several players listed as limited on Thursday’s injury report.

The Panthers listed Wonnumn with a quad injury, which is notable as he had quad surgery last year. The 6-foot-5 linebacker made his 2024 season debut in Week 10 against the Giants, where he had six total tackles, three quarterback pressures, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, and a sack.

Wonnum immediately impacted the defensive line, and not having him for Sunday’s game is bad news for the Panthers’ defense. Chiefs superstar QB Patrick Mahomes might not be having an MVP season, but he’s capable of having a big game.

The Panthers will await to see what the injury report says on Friday before making an official designation on Wonnum’s health status.
