Insider Makes Shocking Revelation About Potential Diontae Johnson Trade
By Cem Yolbulan
The Carolina Panthers are going through yet another lost season. Despite the significant changes in the offseason to the coaching staff and the personnel, the Panthers are once again one of the worst teams in the league, sitting at 1-6 at the bottom of the NFC South.
One of the few bright spots on the team has been offseason acquisition Diontae Johnson. The talented wide receiver who was traded to the Panthers in exchange for CB Donte Jackson and a sixth-round pick, has been one of the two best offensive players in Carolina along with Chuba Hubbard.
As it is often the case for rebuilding teams, their valuable players draw a ton of interest on the trade market. With the Nov. 5 trade deadline looming, the Panthers are reportedly receiving calls about a potential deal. In fact, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Thursday morning that Johnson might be "the most desirable receiver out there", even compared to Rams pass-catcher Cooper Kupp.
"The guy to watch is Diontae Johnson. And as good as Cooper Kupp is, he might be the most desirable receiver out there because of his age, because his contract has only $3.5 million of money left this year. His contract is up after this year. They've gotten calls. This is a deal that I think is easier to get done. Carolina is open to listening. He will be a name to watch."

As painful as it would be to part ways with your best receiver, this is a great sign for the Panthers. If there is a bidding war for Johnson among contenders, Carolina should get at least a mid-round draft pick in return.
Johnson has 30 catches for 357 yards and three touchdowns in seven games this season, despite playing on a dysfunctional offense with Bryce Young and Andy Dalton under center. He would look even better with more surrounding talent and it is seemingly headed that way.
