The Carolina Panthers took some significant steps forward this season but it's hard to argue that fans are satisfied with the 2024 campaign. Yes, the Panthers doubled their win total from a season ago and certain key young players like Bryce Young showed intriguing flashes. At the same time, the Panthers still struggled immensely, especially on the defensive side of the ball, and suffered far too many blowouts and non-competitive games.

Even though the future in Carolina is looking brighter than it did a year ago, the Panthers are still far from being a relevant and competitive team. As a result, we can expect changes in the offseason. The following Panthers are likely to be involved in offseason transactions.

1. DL Shy Tuttle

The Carolina Panthers signed Shy Tuttle to a three-year, $19.5 million contract in the 2023 offseason. The veteran defensive lineman has been a major disappointment ever since.

After four successful seasons with the New Orleans Saints, Tuttle has completely failed to live up to expectations and his contract in the last two seasons. In his first season in Carolina, he had his career-worst 52.9 PFF grade. This season, he outdid himself and put up a 44.9 grade, ranking 109th out of 125 players in his position.

Run defense and pass rush are the two defensive areas the Panthers struggled the most this season, ranking dead last in PFF. Tuttle certainly played a huge part in their struggles as the starting nose tackle.

With one more year left on his contract, Tuttle is officially a cut candidate. The Panthers could save $6.5 million by making him a post-June 1 cut, something they should seriously consider.
