4 Panthers Fans Will Be Happy to See Leave in Free Agency
By Cem Yolbulan
The Carolina Panthers showed improvement this season, doubling their win total and playing competitive football for most of the second half of the season.
There is still plenty of work to be done in the offseason. There are roster upgrades needed in various positions, especially on the defensive side of the ball. As important as additions, however, are departures.
There are several pending free agents, and the Panthers would be wise to re-sign the likes of Brady Christensen and Austin Corbett. The rest, however, can be easily replaced. The four names below will be especially easy to part ways for the Panthers.
TE Tommy Tremble
It is likely the end of the road for Tommy Tremble in Carolina. The former third-round pick has failed to establish himself as a starting-caliber tight end in the NFL and his fourth season didn't change the calculation for the Panthers in the offseason.
Tremble and Ja'Tavion Sanders split the workload at tight end all season but neither player proved himself as the long-term solution at the position. Sanders, since he was a recent draft pick, will likely stay around for next season but the Panthers will look for upgrades on Tremble.
After four underwhelming seasons in Carolina, Tremble will likely struggle to find a guaranteed contract in the offseason. He may need to spend some time on practice squads to prove his worth and still fulfill the potential he showed at Notre Dame before the 2021 NFL Draft.
Panthers fans are ready to finally see a quality tight end play. With so many holes on the roster, tight end may not be the highest priority for GM Dan Morgan but it may be a good idea to invest some resources in the position.
