3 Running Backs the Panthers Can Sign to Replace Jonathon Brooks

3. Latavius Murray
The same, however, can't be said about Latavius Murray. The 34-year-old running back has a lot of mileage and is presumably entering the final stretch of his career. Murray was already the oldest running back in the NFL last season after he signed with the Buffalo Bills in the offseason.
Murray was remarkably healthy as he recorded 300 rushing yards in 16 games, averaging 3.8 yards per carry. He also added 17 catches for 119 yards. His role increased after Damien Harris suffered an injury early in the season, and Murray maintained that role all the way through the postseason.
In his heyday, Murray was one of the better running backs in the league. With the Raiders and the Vikings, he was a consistent threat to put up 1,000+ yards from scrimmage, even making the Pro Bowl in his second season in the league.
How much Murray still has left in the tank is debatable. Whether it makes sense for the Panthers to sign a 34-year-old on his last legs is also worth asking. However, the RB the Panthers will end up signing will have a very limited offensive role anyway. So, a competent veteran who could help this young offense out in short spurts like Murray might not be the worst idea.
