3 Panthers Most Likely to Be Traded by the 2024 Deadline
By Jovan Alford
3. Miles Sanders, RB
With rookie Jonathon Brooks activated off the PUP list and veteran Chuba Hubbard handling the starting duties, Sanders appears to be the odd man out.
The veteran running back was signed last offseason to a massive four-year, $25 million contract ahead of the 2023 season. Carolina envisioned Sanders as their feature back. However, he got outplayed by Hubbard, who has not relinquished the starting job.
Sanders only has 132 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries across seven games this season. He’s also been featured in the passing game with 12 receptions (17 targets) for 65 yards.
Last season, the former Penn State running back had a mediocre first year in the Queen City, with 432 yards and a touchdown on 129 carries (3.3 yards per carry).
The RB trade market hasn’t been as widely discussed as it has been for the WRs, but Sanders would be a solid option for the Dallas Cowboys, who have the worst rushing attack in the NFL this season (77.2 yards per game).
Sanders has a potential out in his contract after this season for 2025, which could make him appealing to other teams. Therefore, it would be surprising to see Sanders still on the roster past the deadline.
