Carolina Panthers 2020 Schedule: Five easiest games
No. 2: Week 11, vs Detroit Lions — 1 p.m. on FOX
This is probably the toughest game to prognosticate heading into the 2020 season. Are the Lions good? Are the Lions really as bad as their 3-12-1 record in 2019 suggests? The team completely fell apart after losing star quarterback Matthew Stafford to injury. Early in the season, however, the team beat the Eagles and Chargers, while pushing Kansas City and Green Bay as close as you possibly can without winning. If not for a terrible penalty call and a clutch 4th down conversion by Patrick Mahomes, the Lions are sitting at 4-0-1 to start the season.
So it can be a little tough to say they are the second easiest team on the Panthers’ schedule. This pick completely comes down to not believing in Matt Patricia as the head coach of the Lions. The Lions’ offseason followed a familiar formula, as the team stockpiled former Patriots players, including linebacker Jamie Collins and safety Duron Harmon. The team traded away its best corner in Darius Slay and appear to have overpaid for backup lineman Halapoulivaati Vaitai in free agency. Not exactly a home run offseason.
Stafford is 32 years old and has yet to prove he can win on the big stage. Hell, the Lions have failed to prove they can win anything. So until the team breaks it’s stigma and proves it can be a winner, they have to be on the list of easiest games for the Panthers. The Panthers have won two of the last three in the series and will look to add a win in Week 11.
