After some flashes of poor defense, Duke was able to hold off Pitt 79-67 on Tuesday night in Durham.

Despite Duke earning the win last night, the story was not just that the No. 9 Blue Devils have moved to 17-3 on the season. The story of the night was Coach K going ballistic on the student section, telling them to “Shut Up” and reminding them that Jeff Capel was “one of us.”

After Capel was hit with a technical foul the Duke student section began to chant, “Jeff Capel, sit with us.” This is a common chant in Cameron Indoor Stadium when opposing coaches or players get in trouble with fouls or the referees. But this was not just any opposing coach, this was Jeff Capel. Capel is the owner of one of the best shots in Duke history, was a long time assistant to Coach K and many believe could be the heir to the Duke Basketball throne.

Coach K did apologize in the post-game press conference and it is still unclear as to what exactly set him off. Did he misunderstand? Was he in a bad mood? One can only speculate…so I will. Here are eight reasons he could have been upset.
