Analysis: Winners & Losers of Matt Rhule Hire

Push: Cam Newton

This hire doesn’t answer one of the biggest questions coming into the 2020 offseason: what are the Panthers going to do with Cam Newton? Newton has spent his whole career with Rivera as his head coach. and with Rhule in place, the coordinator he had the most efficiency as a passer, Norv Turner, will more than likely be out as offensive coordinator in Carolina.

Rhule has probably two options with Newton: Rhule could see Newton as someone he can mold into the modern accurate quarterbacks you see littered in the NFL now, or he could decide that Newton wouldn’t fit into his scheme and get his guy under center.

Because of the uncertainty, this provides for Cam, we can’t give a definitive answer as to how this affects him going forward.

After having defensive-minded head coaches the last two decades, the Panthers are finally moving towards the offensive revolution that has taken over the NFL the 15 years, with a move that could potentially take them to a Super Bowl title.
