Since my trade for Love costs the Panthers their third-round pick, the team loses out on the opportunity to add to the defense with safety Hamsah Nasirildeen or Brandon Jones or to potentially add a wide receiver.

No matter, in the 4th round the Panthers bring in depth on the offensive line by drafting Hakeem Adeniji, an offensive tackle from Kansas that has positional flexibility to move around for the Panthers. Adeniji needs to add weight to his frame and might not have the size to stick on the edge of the offensive line but he has good length and tons of experience after starting every game over his four-year career with the Jayhawks.

The Panthers lost 2019 second-round pick Greg Little to an ankle injury and adding a player like Adeniji gives the Panthers much-needed depth on the offensive line. It’s likely that the Panthers’ woes along the line will not be solved by a 4th-round pick alone, therefore the team will likely add through free agency or need to reallocate an earlier round pick in this area.

The three best players remaining on the board are all running backs and with Christian McCaffrey entrenched at the position, there is no point in taking one here.

Scout’s Take

"PROS: Excels at staying engaged with a defender when he gets his hands on them. Fairly quick get-off when he doesn’t have to overthink. Will take advantage of off-balance defenders and finish through. Displays heavy hands and brings a pop with him. Athletic, sleek body frame that projects to be able to move across different position along the offensive line. CONS: Slightly undersized for a tackle at the next level, may be better suited to move inside. Too often decides how to set based on assumption of defenders technique. Uses a skip-pull technique which kills much of his potential momentum when asked to kick out a defender. Hands sit low in his kick-set which leaves hands unprepared to strike. Will most often get beat on inside moves."
