Former Packers coach Mike McCarthy interviewed with Carolina on Sunday.

The Panthers coaching carousel has begun turning. The Panthers held their first coaching interview on Sunday after the team met with former Packers and Super Bowl-winning coach Mike McCarthy after the team’s game against Indianapolis.

McCarthy was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers from 2006-18, leading the team to a 125–77–2  record and the Super Bowl XLV victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. There was widespread speculation that McCarthy would land with a team last season but he declined the Browns job and was not selected for the Jets job.

For Panthers fans, this is an interesting development. On one hand, McCarthy has a proven track record and appears to be selling himself as the reborn analytical mind that owner David Tepper is seeking. Rumors are that McCarthy has spent the past season meeting with a mock coaching staff, poring over NFL film in an effort to bring a new and innovative offense back to a team.

On the other hand, McCarthy fizzled out of the league for struggling to utilize a talent like Aaron Rodgers and more importantly, completely mishandling the usage of running back Aaron Jones, who has absolutely taken off since the hiring of Matt LaFleur.

Is he the best coaching candidate out there and the man you trust to reboot this franchise? Does his work developing Rodgers gain him respect? Or does the dismantling of their relationship give you pause?

There are a ton of question marks regarding this situation and we’ll update you as the situation develops.
