This wasn’t necessarily a bad pick.

Late rounds are often times a dart throw while blindfolded type of pick, but it is the rest of the picks from that round that make this one almost comical.

Haydn Fleury – first round; number 7, Alex Nedeljkovic – second round; number 37 Warren Foegele – third round; number 67, Lucas Wallmark – fourth round; number 97 and Clark Bishop – fifth round; number 127.

Five players, three of which are on the NHL roster, one which is a regular call-up and the other who is the goaltender of the future all from one draft class.

Wesley, who is the son of former Hurricane Glen Wesley, could never even quite crack the Charlotte Checkers roster. Constantly between there and the Florida Everblades, Wesley just couldn’t make a mark in a draft class that nearly all found footing in the organization.
