Brett Pesce – 2013; Third Round; Number 66
One of the key pieces to the Hurricanes defensive core, Pesce has been absolutely vital to Carolina’s success.
Joining the team starting in the 2015-16 season, Pesce moved up the depth charts rapidly alongside fellow defenseman Jaccob Slavin and made himself a stable addition. Pesce has the capability to play on the top pair, but plays on the second pair to offer better depth for the team.
Signed through 2024 at a little over $4 million, Pesce offers a great budget contract that entices a lot of teams. What many don’t realize though, is that due to Pesce’s skills and contract, it will cost other teams a king’s ransom to pry him away from the Canes.
