Safeties

Tre Boston

Another key member of the Panthers’ 2015 defense was Tre Boston. Like Norman, Boston played with a chip on his shoulder and a fiery personality. He played in 42 games during his first stint with Carolina, and during that time, picked off three passes and scored his lone career pick-six. He left for the Chargers in 2017, and had his best season as a pro, then left again to join the Cardinals last season. When the Panthers needed safety help this offseason, they brought Boston back home, and he has played well thus far. So far in his Panthers career, Boston has five interceptions, 17 passes defensed, and 161 tackles.

Kurt Coleman

Yet another member of the 2015 version of “Thieves Avenue” is Kurt Coleman. He had been a fine player with the Eagles and Chiefs, however, joining the Panthers was the best thing to happen in Coleman’s career. In just three seasons with the club, Coleman picked off 11 passes–including two for touchdowns–and had 259 tackles. Coleman served as a veteran leader on the Super Bowl team, and started all 42 of his games with the Panthers. By the time he left after the 2017 season, he had become a fan favorite of sorts in Carolina.
