Get Kyle Allen into a rhythm

Coming off of arguably his best game as a pro against the Packers, Kyle Allen should be in for another big day this Sunday versus the Falcons. Atlanta ranks among the league’s worst in passing yards, touchdowns, and completion percentage allowed. To make matters worse for the Falcons defense, they’re giving up the highest passer rating of any team in the NFL, and rank dead-last in interceptions. All of which are good signs for Allen and the Panthers.

Like many other young quarterbacks, Allen has struggled with turnovers in his first year as a starter. Fortunately for him, Atlanta’s defense doesn’t force many of them. Allen played well for the most part against Green Bay, however, there were times he made some ill-advised throws against a middling Packers pass defense. Sunday should give him not only an opportunity to put up good numbers for a second-straight week, but also build some additional confidence as the Panthers enter a grueling stretch to close the regular season. It was actually against Atlanta in Week 16 of last season that Allen made his NFL debut. He completed all four of his pass attempts for 38 yards in that contest.
