Bismack Biyombo could become an interesting trade piece

Prior to this most recent homestand, Bismack Biyombo had scored just 18 points in four games off the bench. Over the same span, he had just eight rebounds and one block. During the three-game homestand, Biyombo actually played quite well. In three games, he scored 27 points and made 11 of 16 shots. He also added 10 rebounds and three blocks, despite playing just 14 minutes per game. The numbers aren’t anything spectacular, but Biyombo showed his value.

With that being said, if a serious playoff contender needs help at center, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them target Biyombo if he continues to play well. His contract makes a trade scenario a little more complicated, however, if the right team comes along, a trade could very well happen. The only downside of a potential trade would be that it would mean the Hornets have given up on the season. Many expected them to do this anyway, but they’ve played better than anticipated so far this season. It would be hard to see a team in playoff contention trade away a piece of its already-thin depth at center.
