Entering the final game of the 2018-2019 season, there was significant speculation surrounding Walker’s future with the organization. In what would go on to be his final game in a Hornets uniform, Walker dropped 43 points on 16 of 25 shooting.

The Hornets were just one game back of the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, meaning they needed to win and the eighth-place team to lose in order to make the playoffs. Much as he had done in years past, Walker did all he could to will Charlotte to a postseason berth, but it unfortunately just wasn’t enough. As he exited the game for the final time as a Hornet, the crowd at Spectrum Center gave him the hero’s farewell that he so deserved.
