When it was announced that Newton would be out for an unknown period of time, many fans assumed this season would be a wash. However, all Allen has done in six starts is throw for nine touchdowns and almost 1,300 yards while completing 61% of his passes. He hasn’t been spectacular, and has committed eight total turnovers, but he’s done enough to keep the Panthers in almost every game.

With the defense playing at a high level, and McCaffrey being an MVP candidate, average has been good enough so far for Allen. When and if Newton returns this season, the Carolina offense could become even more dangerous.
