With the Lakers out of the way, the Hornets can move on to their next opponent, hopefully somewhere far, far away from Staples Center.

Unfortunately for Charlotte, the players won’t even have to clear out the visitor’s locker room, as they get a back-to-back with the Clippers at the Staples Center.

There may not be a team more improved this offseason than the Clippers. The oft-forgotten tenant in Staples Center added NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard and then swung a league-altering trade by acquiring Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Clippers are deep, evidenced in their opening night win over the Lakers. The Clippers’ bench outscored the Lakers’ bench 60-19, including 21 from Lou Williams and 17 from Montrezl Harrell.

This is the first game that Cody Zeller and Malik Monk become an unlikely tandem and each score in double figures to lead the team in scoring. Rozier has an off-night, guarded by the ferocious Clippers defense.

This seems like a perfect game for the Clippers to sit Kawhi as part of his load management. Even without George and Leonard, the Clippers have plenty enough firepower to defeat Charlotte.

Final Score: Clippers 121 Hornets 114 (Record 1-3)
