Talk about a rough way to start the season. After two straight home games, the Hornets are tasked with traveling out west to start a tough California road trip. First up on the list, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers made one of the biggest splashes of the offseason by trading for superstar Anthony Davis and unloading its youth. James and Davis combine to make arguably the best 1-2 punch in the entire NBA. They are an instant title contender and are going to be incredibly tough to beat on the road.

The Lakers opened the season with a 112-102 loss to the Clippers on opening night, but showed how talented the starting lineup can be. Danny Green, fresh from the Raptors, is a capable third piece and gives the team a dangerous outside threat.

Very similar to the match-up issues the Hornets faced against the Timberwolves, the Hornets struggle to handle Davis and LeBron does LeBron things. The Lakers slightly overlook a scrappy but outgunned Hornets team, allowing Rozier and co. to claw back from a large deficit in the 4th quarter but fall just short.

Final Score: Lakers 103 Hornets 96 (Record 1-2)
