Ranking the top five Charlotte Hornets uniforms of all time
By Luke Tucker
No. 2: Hornets purple alternate uniforms (1994)
The Hornets’ first alternate uniform debuted in 1994 and man, did it look good. Taking the purple and teal to places it had never been, this was Charlotte’s first purple uniform. These alternate unis featured the teal, blue, purple, and green pinstripes, as well as the same five stripes around the collar and cuffs.
The chest plate featured “CHARLOTTE” in white lettering and a sleek-looking teal outline. The numbers were also in white and outlined in teal. Another cool feature of these unis is the Hugo logo on the waistband. Despite the Bobcats’ attempt to bring back some purple and teal, the organization wouldn’t have another purple uniform until the Hornets returned in 2014.

Like the original home uniforms, the Hornets have since brought back the purple uniforms. Although they haven’t yet seen court action, the Hornets will make the purple throwback’s home debut on November 9 when the New Orleans Pelicans come to town. Unfortunately for fans of the purple uniforms, these threads will be worn in only five home games.
